Stress is a common word for everyone to hear and to be honest the word itself really doesn’t sound so uplifting and positive. Although stress may be part of our normal day to day living, it is still up to us to find ways on how to deal with these stressors. In this article, we will discuss tips on how to manage or lower down our stress levels.
Tip #1: Change your mindset- Stress is common and inevitable in day to day lives, but it is up to us on how we would like to handle things and react to each situation that we encounter. Let us do our best to stay calm and avoid being reactive. People who easily gets stressed out are those who loves to react even on the smallest of things. Take a deep breath before you open your mind and speak.
Tip #2: Relax and de-stress- Find ways to relax even for such a short time to forget about a stressful event. Probably an hour of yoga in Fitzroy with friends, window shopping, a walk in the park or simply relaxing at a nearby coffee shop can do wonders in uplifting your mood. If you feel stressed out it would be recommended to de stress right away instead of ranting to other people which will affect them in a negative way. De stressing doesn’t have to cost you a lot of money, just find ways to relax and clear your mind from everything negative that is going on around you.
Tip #3: Listen to relaxing or soothing music- either plug in your earphones or create a playlist of relaxing songs and play them at the office while working. Most employees would really appreciate hearing good background music in the workplace although some discourage this practice since they find it distracting. Consult this idea with your boss and colleagues and see if they will approve it.
Tip #4: Try out something new- Start a hobby or a new activity to keep you distracted from the things that causes you stress. You can join an class and work with a yoga teacher training who can help teach you relaxation and breathing techniques that would be useful when you are going through a stressful day. You can also try and sweat things out at the gym to release endorphins which makes you feel better at the end of the day. You can also pursue a new hobby such as gardening or baking on your spare time. Others go out of town and spend time bonding with their family and friends which works best for many people.
